We have published a new Donat Sustainability Report for 2022 and 2023

18.4.2025.

We are proud to present the second sustainability report for the Donat brand, which highlights key developments in the area of sustainability during 2022 and 2023.

Over the past two years, we have made a number of significant advancements:

  • We carried out activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of healthy digestion for overall body health,
  • By switching to bottles made from 100% recycled plastic (rPET), we reduced plastic consumption by around 1,000 tons annually,
  • We built a solar power plant on the roof of our bottling facility in Rogaška Slatina, which covers approximately 31% of the location's annual electricity needs,
  • We reduced tap water consumption during the bottling of Donat by 11.7%,
  • We are responsibly and carefully preserving our water source to ensure it remains available for future generations.

This is just a small part of what we've achieved, as outlined in our new sustainability report. You can find even more results, as well as insights into our future steps on the path to sustainability, in the full report on our website: https://www.donat.com/sustainability/

Our sustainability strategy is built on four key pillars – people, products, environment, and governance – and the report provides a detailed overview of our activities and accomplishments within each of these areas.

Caring for People

Raising awareness about the importance of healthy digestion remains the core of our mission. We have created a range of expert and educational content, which we regularly share on our website donat.com and through our media partners' platforms – from Vizita in Slovenia, to Kreni zdravo in Croatia, and N1 in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We have also placed special focus on our employees. During 2022 and 2023, we organized a series of educational events and developed a new internal platform, Centar zdravlja (the Health Center), which offers free and helpful information about health and digestion.

Products

As the only brand in Slovenia to do so, we package all our products in bottles made from 100% recycled plastic. Our transport packaging also contains 50% recycled material – the maximum currently allowed by the technology used by our suppliers. Through these efforts, we save more than 1,000 tons of plastic from becoming waste each year, giving it a new life.

Caring for the Environment

Preserving our water source remains a top priority. Donat is a unique mineral water thanks to its special combination of minerals. By responsibly extracting only the portion of the spring that naturally resurfaces, we ensure the long-term sustainability and availability of Donat for generations to come.

In the area of energy, we've taken a major step toward renewable sources. One of our biggest projects has been the construction of a solar power plant on the roof of our bottling facility in Rogaška Slatina, which now provides about 31% or our annual electricity needs. Additionally, we've installed two solar-powered charging stations for electric vehicles.

Governance

Our governance is based on full transparency and legal compliance. We are committed to responsible business practices – focusing solely on creating added value rather than increasing the volume of water extracted. We are active members of the Beverage Industry Association and support the implementation of deposit return system for packaging in Slovenia.
