ATLANTIC GREEN CONFERENCE – AWARENESS AND INSPIRATION DAY
18.6.2024.
The first Green Day Conference, held on 13 June at the premises of the Zagreb Innovation Centre, brought together around 80 Atlantic colleagues for inspiring lectures on sustainability issues in our environment, with the aim of raising awareness of important environmental topics.
The conference is one of the segments of the internal Green Wave project, which was founded this year with the aim of inspiring and educating Atlantic employees on the issue of sustainability, as well as with a view to bettering ourselves as individuals and organisations by learning and implementing sustainable practices. The project recently won the “ESG Leaders" award in Serbia for the best educational programme, in recognition of its commitment to promoting and educating about ESG principles.
SUSTAINABILITY PLANS
Vice President for Corporate Affairs Neven Vranković also reminded of that and, among other things, once again emphasised Atlantic's five main sustainability goals – the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the responsible use of water, the possibility of complete recycling of packaging, employees (involved and capable employees, without injuries, as well as gender equality) and innovative products in the form of constant improvement of recipes and nutritional values, clean labels and reduction of packaging materials.
Lejla Dautović, Director of Research, Development and Innovation at SBU Beverages, followed with an excellent overview of the current condition of our planet and emphasised the importance of circular economy and commitment to sustainable solutions, continuous consideration and work on them, as well as willingness to change.
The guest lecturer from Unilever, Marko Čuček, Country Manager Adria, took us through Unilever's journey since 2000, when it was decided that sustainability would not be a business strategy, but that the business strategy would be part of the sustainability strategy, while Petra Čiček, Microsoft Sustainability Commercial Lead for Central and South Europe, talked about their plans on this journey and the goals they set for themselves until 2050.
Nataša Gladovič, Director of Corporate Quality Management at Atlantic Grupa, spoke in more detail about Atlantic's sustainable goals and about the specific actions we are planning in the future.
Finally, the panel discussion brought together colleagues from all our business units: Klavdija Vidic from Donat, Lilijana Peklar from SBU Beverages, Nataša Češnovar Gregorc from Savoury Spreads and Mojca Kodre from Corporate Quality Management, who, together with Lejla Dautović, shared their experiences in sustainable shifts among their brands and how they got to them.
