Atlantic Grupa becomes ESG champion in Croatia

21.11.2024.

After receiving the same recognition in the markets of Slovenia and Serbia, Atlantic Grupa has also won the ESG Champion award in Croatia.

The award was presented on 20 November at the Business Sustainability with ESG Principles conference, organised by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham). The third edition brought together around 160 participants from the private and public sector, and Atlantic Grupa, along with A1 Hrvatska, were recognised as the two most successful companies in implementing ESG principles.

The award itself is the result of a survey based on the methodology designed by the consulting firm Kearney, which assessed the maturity in adopting ESG principles among the 36 companies that took part in the survey. The goal was to provide a comprehensive assessment of the maturity in implementing all three ESG aspects (environmental, social and governance) among companies from different sectors of the Croatian economy.

The award was accepted on behalf of Atlantic by Enzo Smrekar, Group Vice President for Savoury spreads, Donat and international expansion. He reaffirmed that sustainable development has had an important role in the company's business for years and is at the same time one of the key strategic priorities. The company's commitment to ESG principles is evidenced by the fact that in 2023 we achieved a sustainability index of 102 percent, which serves as a monitoring tool in achieving our annual ESG goals.

Marko Derča, partner at Kearney, pointed out that the maturity in ESG implementation among companies in Croatia is increasing compared to last year's survey, while a downward trend was only observed in social impact. Companies in Croatia continue to make significant advancements in their commitment to implementing ESG principles; however, there is still room for improvement and progress in certain sectors.
