Atlantic Grupa received the "Sustainability Champions" award for Smoki
16.12.2024.
Forum za odgovorno poslovanje (eng. Responsible Business Forum) has awarded the "Sustainability Champions" recognition for the fourth time to companies that directly contribute to sustainable development goals through their operations and projects.
The "Sustainability Champions" award is given to projects that address global challenges and provide concrete solutions. This year, 11 companies were recognized for their contributions to various sustainable development goals, including Atlantic Grupa with its Smoki project.
Atlantic Grupa received the award for the Smoki project due to its contribution to the subgoal 12.2 – Sustainable Management of Natural Resources. The project significantly contributed to environmental protection by removing palm oil, which was replaced with locally sourced sunflower oil. Palm oil usage is one of the main causes of deforestation, making this recipe change an important step toward sustainability.
The Smoki project was also recognized for its commitment to ESG goals, including improving the product recipe to meet the requirements of specific social groups, such as Vegan and Halal certifications.
Smoki is a key brand in the SPP Sweet and Savory portfolio, accounting for 35% of the value turnover and 52% of EBITDA, making recipe modification for such a major brand a significant challenge for the entire team. Despite the changes, the team is proud of having successfully retained the authentic taste that makes Smoki recognizable and beloved.
The award ceremony was organized as part of this year’s CSR&ESG Forum, which brought together experts in sustainable development and corporate social responsibility to present current solutions and trends. The conference emphasized inclusion, as well as environmental protection standards, social and governance issues (ESG), and sustainable development goals.
